Sorry Steelers fans, we’re going to need to shake this one off.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 1-1 two weeks into the 2025 regular season — and while there were a few bright spots in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks, there were more than a few disappointing performances that stood out.
Here are the biggest winners and losers from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 2 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.
Winners
RB Jaylen Warren
Warren almost single-handedly carried the Pittsburgh Steelers to victory — producing 134 yards from scrimmage, including his electric 65-yard catch and run late in the third quarter. Unfortunately for Warren, his impressive play for Pittsburgh was in vain, as the Seahawks soundly handed the Steelers their first loss of the 2025 season.
OLB Nick Herbig
After missing the regular season opener versus the New York Jets last Sunday, Herbig wasted little time making an impact in place of an injured Alex Highsmith, who left the game early after hurting his ankle. Herbig was one of Pittsburgh’s best pass rushers — applying pressure on Darnold on a few important plays — but his best play of the game was the effort on his 41-yard interception return.
Losers
Pittsburgh’s offensive line
There was hope that the Steelers’ young offensive line, now healthy, would live up to expectations in 2025 — but it feels as though that was a pipe dream two weeks into the season. Despite Aaron Rodgers’ attempts to defend the o-line’s play in Week 1, the issues reared their ugly heads once more against the Seahawks — resulting in the 21-year veteran signal caller completing just two passes for 27 yards while under pressure from Seattle’s pass rush.
RB Kaleb Johnson
There was arguably no performance more disappointing than Johnson’s play in Week 2, considering he practically sealed the Steelers’ fate with his kickoff return blunder. With the Steelers trailing 17-14, there was a glimmer of hope that Pittsburgh could bounce back and pull off the win — until Johnson watched the kickoff bounce past him into the endzone, allowing the Seahawks to score one of the easiest touchdowns in NFL history.
Pittsburgh’s defense
For the second straight week, the Steelers’ highest-paid defense in the NFL was arguably the weakest link on the team — giving up 30-plus points in back-to-back games. T.J. Watt has had a sack in six games, the retooled defensive line couldn’t stop the run, and WR Cooper Kupp was 10 yards away from being the second Seahawks wideout to break 100 yards receiving in the game. It was another bad day all around for the Black and Gold defense.
