WASHINGTON — WUSA9 has issued a Weather Impact Alert from 8 p.m. Sunday evening to 8 a.m. Monday morning due to the possibility for strong thunderstorms. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of western Maryland through 10 p.m. Sunday. These storms are expected to be stronger than what approaches the metro early Monday morning. The main risks are gusty winds and hail, and we can not rule out a brief tornado. We don’t see a lot of severe weather area wide with this system, but there could be some isolated power outages or tree branches coming down in one or two neighborhoods. For most of us, it will just be rain that slows us down. The rain will gradually end after 8 a.m. Winds will become breezy with wind gusting 20 to 30 mile per hour.
