WASHINGTON — Three Things to Know:

  • Cloudy Monday, isolated showers
  • Heating up quickly
  • Near-record heat possible

Forecast:

Monday: Cloudy and warmer, stray shower. Breezy. Highs: 77-82. Winds: SW 10 – 15, 25.
Monday Night: Clearing. Lows 50s & 60s. Winds: SW 10.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Rapidly warming. Highs 84-88. Winds: SW 10.

Monday will be characterized by clouds, warmth, and stray shower chances. Early morning commuters will feel comfortable with out-the-door temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s. Despite the clouds, temperatures will start warming up noticeably. Highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s for most. Breezy too, southwesterly winds will gust from 20 -25 mph all day.

An early taste of summer is on the way this week.

Tuesday through Thursday turns hot, with highs well into the 80s and some spots pushing 90. Wednesday and Thursday look like the peak, and we could be talking about record highs around DC.  We’ll have to monitor our risk for fire danger has well with hotter temperatures and minimal rain chances.

By the end of the week, a cold front tries to step in and cool things back down a bit. Shower or rain chances possible for early next week.
