Receiving this wig, I was genuinely excited to experience every aspect. The scent of the wig immediately stands out as with most chemically manipulated wigs—it’s that familiar smell of light unpleasantness that you’ll want to wash off via a thorough shampoo and conditioner session or fabric softener (a brilliant trick the wig community swears by to get this common scent off of chemically styled hair). But note, this will completely strip the pre-styling, which is honestly one of the main reasons you would purchase such a meticulously crafted unit; the styling saves you an entire trip to the hair salon, and you’ll be left having to restyle from scratch. Again, choose your battles wisely. I will also mention that using a hot tool on this SKU doesn’t make it smell any better—it may actually smell worse, which is exactly what I encountered during my styling experiments.

As efficient as a pre-cut lace would seem—meaning a lace wig whose perimeter already comes cut to fit around your forehead naturally—sometimes the cut may not favor your specific face frame. You can’t pre-determine how a pre-cut lace will be cut or how it will fit your face, so consider that when purchasing. (For example, if you already have a box-shaped face, you may want to avoid a boxy pre-cut lace, which is what I found true on this unit.) Nowadays, wig enthusiasts are shaping their lace to mimic more of a natural hairline that may include a widow’s peak, and or more jagged instead of rigid hair line, so definitely keep that customization option in mind.

While the knots on the unit claim to be bleached, they honestly do require more bleaching because they are quite noticeable and need that seamless blend for a natural look. While the hair claims to be 100% human, it does feel like a sophisticated blend of synthetic hair that can be managed as human hair and actual human hair strands. The terms in which a company can list hair as human may differ significantly. The hair extension and wig industry is often described as the “Wild West” because, unlike other consumer goods, there is a lack of specific, industry-wide standards and regulations that dictate what can be called “human hair.” There is no mandate.

The Verdict

With all this in mind for the wig specifically, I would absolutely say this is a stunning unit to have for exactly what I mentioned—luxury events where you need to make that unforgettable entrance. To have a piece so glamorously full of bouncy, professionally styled curls is honestly a brilliant move for your hair arsenal.

My favorite part of the wig is the dark drawstring that comes pre-installed in the nape of the wig because having the ability to tighten or loosen with a drawstring security is such a valuable plus and not one many full wigs have installed. (That was more of an extension ponytail feature in the past, making this innovation particularly exciting for the wig world.)
