WASHINGTON — Three Things to Know:

  • Wind chills in the teens and 20s New Year’s Day
  • Colder Thursday night
  • Mountain snow through Thursday morning

Forecast:

Thursday night: Partly cloudy and colder. Lows: 17 – 27. Winds: SW 10.

There will be significant mountain snow through Thursday morning on the west side of the Divide. Southern Maryland could see a snow or rain shower before 6 or 7 a.m. Thursday,

We will kick off 2026 on a very cold note with morning temperatures in the 20s and high temperatures only reaching the low to mid 30s. Afternoon temps will hold steady or even fall. It will still be quite breezy, so dress for the 20s.

We are watching a storm Saturday night that is trending north. This storm could spread a light mix D.C. south and east over night Saturday. In the next 10 days temperatures will gradually get back to 50s, marking a stretch of above average temperatures.
