WASHINGTON — Three Things To Know:
- Nice start to the weekend
- Weather Impact Alert Sunday a.m.
- Tracking rain and snow Tuesday
Forecast:
Saturday: Mostly sunny and cold. Not as windy. Highs: 40 – 45. Winds: NW 5 – 10.
Saturday Night: Clear and cold. Lows: 23 – 33. Winds: SE 5.
Sunday: Morning clouds and showers (a few early snowflakes). Gradual clearing in the afternoon. Highs: 41 – 46. Winds: S 5 – 10.
The colder temperatures stick around into the weekend. Saturday won’t be anywhere near as windy as Friday, but it will still be chilly. Temperatures will start off in the 20s and only climb into the upper 30s and low 40s. At least we have nice sunshine to enjoy before clouds thicken up Sunday.
Showers will move in early Sunday morning. This means a few wet snowflakes are possible between around 6 – 8 a.m. mainly north and west of D.C. By the time most folks wake up, it will just be a chilly rain. Light, nuisance showers will continue through the morning and into the early afternoon. It’s not going to be an exceptionally wet morning, but we have issued a Weather Impact Alert because it is such a busy travel day and you can expect delays if you’re hitting the road. If you are heading to the Commanders game Sunday night against the Broncos, plan on a dry but chilly game.
We’re also looking ahead to a coastal storm Tuesday. Most of our region will just see cold rain throughout much of the day, but areas north and west of D.C. could see a prolonged period of freezing rain or accumulating snow. There is still a lot of uncertainty in the track and impacts associated with the storm, but be sure to check back over the next several days for updates!
