WASHINGTON — Three Things to Know:
- A few showers Friday evening
- Turning milder/warmer for the weekend
- Cooler again next week
Forecast:
Friday: Partly cloudy and pleasant. Scattered evening showers. Highs: 66 – 71. Winds: SW 10 – 20 +.
Friday Night: Showers ending early with partial clearing. Lows: 46 – 54. Winds: SW/NW 10 – 15.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and pleasant. Highs: 64 – 69. Winds: NW 10.
Friday morning temperature start out in the low 30s to low 40s so you’ll want a heavier jacket again.
Spring begins at 10:46 a.m. on Friday with the Vernal Equinox – this marks the astronomical start to Spring! Right on cue, it will feel more spring-like. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to near 70 under partly cloudy skies. A round of scattered showers will move through the region between 3 – 8 p.m. Friday, so you may have some wet roads for your evening commute or Friday night plans.
Skies will clear by Saturday with just a few early morning clouds but abundant afternoon sunshine! It will be another unseasonably mild day with temperatures in the upper 60s. It will be even warmer Sunday in the mid 70s!
We’re on Blossom Watch this weekend and will likely reach Stage 4, peduncle elongation, with the warmer weather. The National Cherry Blossom Festival officially kicks off March 20th.

Don’t get too used to the warm weather, a cold front moving through late Sunday into Monday will bring in a round of showers with falling temperatures on Monday. By Tuesday morning we’ll have low temperatures back in the 20s to low 30s and high temperatures by the afternoon only in the 40s and low 50s.
