The D.C. region is home to lots of great food from all around the world. On any given corner, local foodies have the opportunity to find their next great meal. This week on Get Out There, our weekly conversation about ways to explore the Washington region, WAMU’s Tamika Smith sat down with Washingtonian’s ‘Hidden Eats’ columnist Ike Allen.
On Allen’s list to check out? First up, a growing “Little Nepal” on the H Street Corridor. Two Nepalese restaurants, Tempo Shack D.C. and Naglo, have opened right around the same corner in Northeast D.C. The new eateries give locals a chance to taste nepalese dishes like steamed or fried dumplings called momos.
If you’re in the mood for Dim Sum, Allen recommends checking out Corner Bites in Rockville. There, you can enjoy treats like baked pineapple buns.
Allen also suggested that local foodies take a trip to the “bread basket of India,” without all the travel. 323 Dhaba Express in Sterling serves up delicious and filling vegetarian Punjabi food.
