Ravens reward another great QB effort

A Ravens’ victory rewards another strong Lamar Jackson performance with an impressive win.

Now, that’s more like it. This was the effort the Baltimore Ravens faithful had grown accustomed to. Lamar Jackson was in his bag, as they say. So were his teammates. All of those playmakers made plays on both sides of the ball (and on special teams).

The result was a humbling day for the Cleveland Browns. Baltimore was a heavy home favorite for a reason. We saw a blocked punt, a defensive score, and phenomenal receptions from DeAndre Hopkins. What else is new? Who has dibs on a Pro Bowl season for Hopkins in year 14?

The Ravens hung 41 on the rival Browns while limiting their AFC North rival to 17 points. Attention now shifts to a primetime showdown with the Detroit Lions.

There’s so much to break down from the most recent win, though. That includes the performance of Lamar Jackson. Let’s dissect his Week 2 performance.

Lamar Jackson’s worst throws

There isn’t much to criticize here, unless you want to discuss a slow start from the home team. It took some time to get the offense going, as evidenced by a first-quarter misfire during a third-and-seven scenario with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza.

Jackson later missed again on third and seven with 3:11 remaining in the first quarter. He had Rashod Bateman open on a slant, but again misfired. That one traveled behind the receiver.

Lamar Jackson’s best throws

It feels like cheating to some degree, and most of you are probably looking for something a little deeper than the obvious. Sorry to disappoint you, but it doesn’t get better than the toss and catch to DeAndre Hopkins. We may discuss that one for a few more hours.

If that doesn’t do it for you, check out the touch he placed on two of his TD tosses and a deep throw to DeAndre Hopkins to set up a first-and-goal scenario.

Analysis of Lamar Jackson’s Week 2 performance vs. the Browns

Action Jackson was, as always, must-see television. He finished this one with 19 completions on 29 attempts. Four of those 19 completions ended as touchdowns. He racked up a 128.6 passer rating and picked up another 13 yards on two attempts.

He was great in Week 1, but the ultimate goal is to win. Baltimore’s collapse overshadowed a great night from the man who will again be part of the MVP discussion.

The tenor will be calmer as Week 3 begins. Next on Baltimore’s schedule is a primetime showdown with the NFC’s Detroit Lions. That one will be played in the friendly confines of M&T Bank Stadium.
