WASHINGTON — A round of wet and wintry weather will impact the region Friday. Light rain, sleet and freezing rain will approach from the west after 12 p.m. Friday. Throughout the afternoon and evening there will be waves of generally light rain for most of the area, but for areas north of I-66 and Route 50 (especially closer to the Mason Dixon line) there could be a prolonged period of sleet and freezing rain. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for our northern counties. The good news is that this system has limited moisture and limited cold air availability.
