Jeans trends ebb and flow a lot. Although it might seem like the style you’ve finally accepted into your wardrobe (cough, low-rise jeans, cough) is already on its way out, denim trends actually stick around much longer than you’d think. Case in point: many of the 2026 jeans trends are actually quite similar to those of 2025, with a few micro trends also on the rise.

What Jeans Are Trending in 2026?

2026 is all about variety when it comes to denim. “The jean trends have sort of an ‘anything goes’ umbrella, including baggy styles, straight leg, high-waisted flares, low-rise, and bootcuts,” says celebrity stylist Samantha Brown.

Brown also says we’ll add a lot more gray—including light washes and deep charcoals—into our denim collections in 2026. This aligns with the “vintage washes” that stylist and fashion creator Nena Evans says are popular this year. “Vintage-inspired washes are everywhere, especially soft light blues, worn-in grays, and true indigo,” she explains. Similarly, stylist Nicole Pearl says, indigo and deep dark washes are predominant this season, including some with wax or treated denim finishes. “Waxed and treated denims add a slightly elevated, polished finish that reads more intentional and less casual.”

As far as micro-trends are concerned, Brown says craftier styles that have a slightly DIY appearance are also having a moment this year. “Embellished jeans have always had a place on the sidelines, but we’re seeing them studded, embroidered, with rhinestones, appliques, and painted,” she notes. 

Lightweight Denim

This year is very much about leaning into comfy cozy—yes, even in our denim. “Overall, people want to prioritize comfort while still achieving that ‘undone,’ effortless style with minimal effort,” says stylist and fashion creator Chloe Xandria. This means reaching for denim blends that feel lightweight and buttery soft.
