Alan Osmond‘s younger brother, Merrill Osmond, has revealed the late musician’s last words to him before his death on April 20, 2026, at age 76.

“Two days before my brother, Alan, passed, I was blessed to sit quietly with him. We talked as brothers do, heart to heart,” Merrill wrote on Facebook on April 21. “He was struggling, but when I shared a joke or two, he found the strength to chuckle… and then he smiled.”

Merrill continued, “In a tender moment I will never forget, he leaned close and whispered something into my ear. He said, ‘Merrill, you and I worked side by side. We created, we produced, we directed… we gave our hearts to The Plan with Wayne. Please… do something with it. Let people know what we were trying to say.’ I want you to know, his request will be honored.”

“He wanted me to tell you how much he loved you, and I believe that with all my heart,” Merrill added. “He gave everything he had to the Lord, to his family, and to all of you. He truly was a missionary. He truly was a saint.”

The Osmond family confirmed Alan’s death to Utah’s KSL News. When he died, his wife of 51 years, Suzanne, and their eight sons — Michael, Nathan, Doug, David, Scott, Jon, Alex, and Tyler — were by his bedside.

His cause of death has not been shared with the public. Alan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1987, an incurable degenerative disease which he said he first discovered while on stage.

“I have the progressive kind of MS that comes on very slowly and keeps getting gradually worse,” he previously told Entertainment Tonight (per Deseret News). “I was playing the trumpet and I just could not finger it as quickly and it bothered me. I thought I probably strained my hand or something.”
