Berlin-based e-tailer Zalando has strengthened its senior executive team by naming Tom Christenson, formerly with the logistics arms of Amazon and Uber, as senior vice-president in charge of the B2B business. Christenson started in his role on October 15, and his task is to speed up the deployment of Zalando’s modular e-commerce management system aimed at third-party vendors of fashion and lifestyle products.

A marketplace specialist, Christenson cut his business teeth at Amazon. He was notably involved in setting up and deploying the e-commerce giant’s global vendor fulfilment programme, which Amazon has gradually started exploiting for its own product range too.
Christenson is also experienced in the logistics business. He set up the European branch of Uber Freight, having spearheaded its fusion with Sennder Technologies in his role as COO. He was until recently the managing director of TBAuctions, a multi-brand online platform connecting buyers and sellers of industrial assets.
His new mission is to expand Zalando’s B2B business, putting the e-tailer’s logistics and software capabilities at the disposal of third-party vendors to help them streamline their cross-border commercial operations. The tools Zalando can offer are Zeos, to access its inventory management and delivery network, Tradebyte, which connects to international marketplaces, and Scayle, a tool for managing e-shops.
Its suite of B2B services also includes the ability to support brands in terms of content creation, returns management and omnichannel growth, by taking care of deliveries to physical stores.
“Zalando’s B2B strategy is visionary, is already delivering strong results and has tremendous potential going forward,” said Christenson. “What we built ourselves, we offer our business partners. Bringing Zeos, Tradebyte and Scayle even closer together will build on the strengths of each to create something even more powerful for the brands and retailers we serve,” he added.
In 2025, Zalando’s B2B operations generated revenues in excess of €1 billion, serving a portfolio of over 1,200 clients. On a comparable basis, revenue grew 27.5% in H1 2026 over the previous year, reaching €631 million.
Zalando, which recently opened its first major logistics hub in France, serving both consumers and third-party vendors, recorded business volume of €4.3 billion in 2025, up 21.7%, and revenues worth nearly €3 billion, up 23.8%.
